Arriving at the Park...

The Lodge at Longmire built in 1917 sits at 2761 ft eleveation.

After about 100 tries we finally got this one right!

Hiking around an area called Paradise

Paradise Lodge also built in 1917 sits at 5400 ft elevation

Waterfall in the background, someone from London who was in town on a flight crew took this.

The Blue Angels Over Seattle Today

We watched them from the I-90 Bridge which was closed for the event. Needless to say it was pretty loud...

A Little Live Music!

This was the first Starbucks ever opened in 1971 at the Pikes Place Market...

Fish Toss

This is a quick video of the fish toss in action...

Saturday Exploration

We leave Kirkland going west on the 520 over Lake Washington.

University of Washington stadium, the campus is in the background....

The view from a park somewhere in Queen Ann area: downtown Seattle, the Puget Sound, and the mountains.

In this one you can just make out Mt. Rainier in the distance (in person it was much clearer).

The cruise ships...

Maybe our Christmas card picture?

And then we headed down to Pike's Place Market. The ally streets along the way down were super cute, filled with picturesque restaurants and random stores....

We took a rest and watched the balloon guy across the street....

And then the market!! What a unique place...

Of course Jess' first priority was dessert - a HUGE maple bar (but she shared).

There were so many food shops, most giving out samples. We tried flavored honey, different kinds of jellies (white and red wine, beer, garlic, jalepenos), delicious fruit, chocolate noodles, crab sandwhiches, and macaroni and cheese.

This place had their vegetables strung perfectly.

There were also flower shops everywhere, and the bouqets are beautiful and cheap. The lower level sign leads down to two other levels, it is crazy!

And finally, the famous fish shop from the HR video....They did do their chanting when people bought fish, but a lot more people wanted to watch than buy.

It is hard to see in this picture, but those parrot fish were bright turquoise.

Someone's Flat Stanley went to Pike's Place Market!

And this is supposedly the first Starbucks. They had live music outside and a long line winding out the door.

Thanks to Aadam for a wonderful day of exploring Seattle!!

Fireworks at the Cabin

Watercade in Litchfield, MN. This must be the finally... Our Colorado family was also in attendance, waving to the cars as they drove by.

Victory

Needless to say... I am in trouble for posting this...

Welcome to Kirkland...

Northwest University here we come.....
(The front entrance)

And then another picture looking up into campus, trying to show how hilly and wooded it is! It takes Jess just a few minutes to walk from the apartment down to her office (maybe a little slower on the way back up!)

Home Sweet Home...our apartment (upper right).

We only have the basics as of now, our fancy TV, a laptop, and a mattress....so we decided to set the bed up in the living room. We actually kind of like it! Notice the new pink pillow courtesy of Dick and Nikki - thank you!

The kitchen - nothing too exciting but we don't plan on using it anyway :)

Across from the kitchen is the little patio...

Down the hallway, taken from the doorway of one bedroom (a spare - please come visit!). One of the bathrooms is the left doorway, the open doors on the right (with the Trader Joe's bag) is the laundry closet, and the room with the piles of clothes is the master bedroom with a bathroom around the corner.

The bathroom on the left....

Lots of unpacking to do! And far too many clothes for the closet in the background! We haven't bought a dresser yet.

And finally, a picture of Lake Washington with the Seattle skyline on the left. Troy took this tonight from the street right in front of the university.
